The goal of Arts Health Network Canada (AHNC) is to bring arts and health activities into the mainstream of Canadian life so that all Canadians are able to engage in art for the health of it, as well as the joy of it.
Our current priorities are:
Supporting Connection, Dialogue, and Information Sharing
We are assembling a comprehensive knowledge repository on arts and health in Canada, and through various communication platforms we facilitate connection and dialogue among those engaged and interested in arts and health.
We encourage and help facilitate the development of local and provincial networks of individuals and organizations interested and working in arts and health, as a key mechanism for disseminating findings, building awareness, and encouraging collaboration.
We raise awareness and appreciation of the individual and community health and wellness benefits of arts-based activities and help increase support for Canadian arts and health initiatives.
Building the Evidence Base
We collaborate with researchers and the community to assess the effectiveness of arts-based health initiatives and help build the evidence base to support more programs.
Demonstrating Exemplary Practices
Drawing on experiences and research conducted in Canada and around the world, we seek to expand knowledge about effective arts and health programs and practices.
