Arts and Minds is a program of Covenant House Toronto. It is an interactive and dynamic program offered for all youth who access our Crisis Shelter, Rights of Passages, or Community Supports Services programs. Arts and Minds is open to youth of all abilities, needs, talents, and aspirations.
The program operates under a trauma-informed and resiliency framework. It is a safe and welcoming place for youth to work towards healing and stability. We offer a variety of workshops during days and evenings. The innovative program uses art, as well as other hands-on activities. The modules include a number of art activities such as painting, beading, pottery, and performing arts, as well as wellness activities such as yoga, dance, sports, self-esteem, and anger management. Through these creative techniques, we are able to teach youth communication and social skills in a non-threatening way. Art encourages youth to regain the ability to express themselves and rebuild a sense of self-worth. Participants also volunteer in the community, which provides our youth with the experiences of making a contribution. For more information, visit: www.covenanthouse.ca
