The Friends of Leigh Square Society (in Coquitlam, BC) is implementing an annual juried exhibition of fine and literary art by students from grades 9-12 (from all school districts). Only the artworks that pass the jury selection process will be hung on the walls of the Outlet and Gathering Place at Leigh Square Port Coquitlam for the exhibition.
Seeing that the exhibition is taking place not only during Youth Week but also during Mental Health Awareness Week, we have chosen the topic of Stigma. We encourage students to explore what Stigma means to them in their own lives and in their own language. Students will draw inspiration from whatever stigma means to them, and perhaps even, what it means to be impacted by stigma. We believe the resulting exhibition will be a great success and create powerful conversations surrounding the subject.
