Society for the Arts in Dementia Care

The Society for the Arts in Dementia Care was started in Vancouver in 2005 by Dr. Dalia Gottlieb-Tanaka, a faculty member in the School of Psychology at UBC. The Society provides an interdisciplinary forum, with workshops and conferences, bringing together academic research and practical knowledge through collaboration between the medical profession and the creative arts. The Society now has an affiliate society in Australia. In 2008, Dr. Gottlieb-Tanaka published her thesis:  Creativity, Dementia and the Therapeutic Environment: Interdisciplinary Research of Creative Expression Abilities in Seniors with Dementia and the Architectural Design of Their Therapeutic Environment (VDM Verlag).
